Aston Martin Zagato

Zagato, established in 1919, is yet another famous Italian styling firm, which has developed 200 car bodies and prototypes, mainly for Alfa Romeo, Lancia, Bristol and Aston Martin. In the years 1947–94, Zagato produced short series of sports cars. Currently, every few years, it presents new concept cars. In addition, it has long offered original rims, spoilers, interior equipment elements, seats, suspension and exhaust systems. In 2002, it presented abody for the Aston Martin DB7 Zagato and for the DB AR 1Zagato. At the 2004 Geneva Motor Show, the firm showed the Aston Martin V12 Vanquish Zagato, which is produced in alimited series of 100 cars. At the 2005 Geneva Motor Show, Zagato presented the Lancia Ypsilon Sport concept car with a 1.9-liter 150 hp turbocharged engine.

Zamyad has manufactured trucks since 1979 and has belonged to the SAIPA concern since 1998. The pick-ups Z 242 Double Cab and Z 24 Pick-up, available with a 2.4-liter 114 hp engine and made under the Nissan Junior of 1962-82 license, have been produced since 1970. The car was manufactured in 1986-98 by SAIPA and sold in the years 1986-2003 under the SAIPA trademark.

In 1954 Zastava started the assembly of Fiat licensed cars, then the production of the model 1400 BJ and the Campagnola AR 51/55. The famous model 600 was launched in 1955 and produced till 1986 under the name 750/850. The production of Yugo and Florida models started in 2002 and since then, these cars have been equipped with Peugeot engines. The Egyptian firm NASR produces Zastava 128 (55% of parts is from Serbia) and since 2001 the model Florida In.

A completely new edition of the Florida was shown in 1987 in Belgrade with serial production launched one year later. This model can be equipped with one of these engines: 1.3-liter 68 hp (V-max 157 km/h), 1.4-liter 71 hp (V-max 160 km/h) and since 2002 the 1.6-liter 98 hp Peugeot engine (V-max 175 km/h). At the same motorshow but in the year 2000, a new, restyled version of the Florida, the 103FL, was presented. The model is equipped with the same engines as the standard Florida model, and has been known as the Florida In since July 2001.

The 5-door Zastava 101 model, based on the Fiat 128, has been produced since 1971; since 1980 a 4-door model has also been produced with an 1.1-liter engine generating 55 hp (V-max 135 km/h).

In 1980 production of the model 102 Yugobegan, which since 1988 has been named Koral andsince 1999 –Tempo (catalyzed). This vehicle, based on the chassis of the Fiat 127, is offered with the following engines: 1.1-liter 55 –62 hp (V-max 145 and 150 km/h) or 1.3-liter 64-67 hp (V-max 154 and 155 km/h). The production of a convertible version started in 1988 and in 1995 – of the CL version with a restyled front end, whose name was changed to Ciao in 1999. Atthemotorshow in Belgrade in March 2000, Zastava showed a restyled version of the 102FL, which since 2001 has been produced under the name Koral In (a 1.1-litre 60hp Peugeot engine, V-max 152 km/h).

The prototype of the Zaporozhec ZAZ 965, produced in the years 1960-69, was first shown in 1958. In 1965-94 its successor was produced - ZAZ 966 / 966A / 968 / 968A / 968M. The 1102 Tavria
model was demonstrated by ZAZ in 1984, with the first six vehicles built in 1986, and its series production started in 1987. AvtoZAZ Daewoo company existed in the years 1998-2002. Daewoo Leganza models were assembled in 1998-2001, with additional assembly of Daewoo Nubira versions in 1998-2003. Since 1998 the Daewoo Lanos has been offered, assembled from Polish CKD sets since 2000. From 2002, ZAZ has assembled Mercedes-Benz vehicles in the SKD system, since 2003 - Dacia, Lada and Opel (Astra Classic II from 2004 assembled in the CKD system), from February 2004 - Chevrolet, and from the end of 2004 - Chrysler 300. In December 2004 company started to assemble, and then produce, the ZAZ Lanos T-150 model made under a license from the Daewoo Lanos T-150.

The ZAZ Lanos T-150 sedan was initially assembled (start in December 2004) and then produced under a license of the Daewoo Lanos T - 150, produced in Korea in 2000-2003. The vehicle comes with Korean 1.5-liter 86 hp or 1.6 liter 106 hp engines, with a target production volume of 60,000 cars per year.

The series production of a 3-door, 5-seat hatchback called ZAZ 1102 Tavria was initiated in 1987. Its 1105 Tavria Dana estate body version was offered in 1991-99. In 1998 the production of a modernized Tavria Nova model began. The vehicle comes with the following engines: 1.2-liter 51 hp (110206 model), 1.2-liter 58 hp (110207 and 110217 versions), 1.3-liter 63 hp (version 110218) or 1.3-liter 66 hp (version 110218-40) and develops a top speed of 145-151-160-162 km/h. In March 1999 the series production of the 1103 Slavuta sedan started. The Slavuta is available with 1.2-liter 58 hp (version 110307), 1.3-liter 63 hp (110308 model), 1.3-liter 66 hp (version 110308-40) or 1.3-liter 70 hp (Ladoga 110328 model) power plants, and is capable of attaining a top speed of 147-156-157-162 km/h.

The production of the Sens sedan was launched in summer 2001. This vehicle is actually the Lanos T-100 model, produced in Korea in 1996 - 2000 and equipped with a Ukrainian engine of 1299-ccm and 70 hp. Half of the car is made with locally manufactured components, with the chassis and bodies imported from the Polish FSO car factory.

Since 1969 Zender has provided visual and mechanical tuning. This is one of the largest firms in this trade and offers front and rear spoilers, streamlined bumpers and air inlets, aluminum rims, interior equipment, modernized exhaust and suspension elements, strengthened braking systems as well as an enormous number of auto accessories for nearly every vehicle. The most interesting work by this firm involves two types of visual tuning: Concept – designed for all VW models and Flash, designed for Opel vehicles. ZEROSPORTS Subaru

The company was established in 1994 and is active in the field of optical and mechanical tuning of Subaru cars. In 2000 Zero/sports built the prototype of the EV Formula electric car (227 km/h). In June 2001 another prototype followed – the EV Celo View. The 1-seat EV Elexeed RS premiered in October 2002, and in September 2003 went into production. With a 70-km range, the vehicle reaches aterminal velocity of 60 km/h.

Zhengzhou Nissan Paladin

A joint venture established in May 1993 between Nissan (share 5%; 30% since 2001) and Zhengzhou Light Automobile Works (95%, since 2001 – 35%) and CITIC Group Co. (since 2001 – 35%), has been owned in 51% by Dongfeng Motor Co., Ltd. (30% is still held by Nissan, 19% by Zhengzhou Light Automobile Works) since October 2004. The company began manufacturing a 5-passenger ZN 1020 pick-up under the licence of Nissan Pickup D21 1985-97 in 1995. On this basis, designer engineers began to develop an original station wagon in 1998 – the ZN 6440BK. In 1999, the company promoted its 5-passenger ZN 1031U2G pick-up with a 2.4-liter 150 hp engine, under the licence of the new Nissan Datsun D22 from 1997. On this basis, a 5-passenger ZN 6491 with aglass hardtop was developed. The ZN 6481 pick-up served also as the basis for the production of the ZN 6481 station wagon, manufactured in the years 2001-2002. The American Nissan Xterra was produced here under the brand of ZN 6451 in 2001-2003. Anew SUV – Paladin – premiered at the 2002 Beijing Motor Show. The vehicle comes with a 2.4-liter 150 hp or 3.3-liter 170 hp power plant (speed 155-160 km/h) and 4x2 / 4x4 drive. The vehicle has been produced exclusively in China since February 2003.

Zhonghua Coupe

In 1991, Shenyang Automobile Co (car manufacturer since 1970) and Brilliance China Automotive Holdings Ltd. founded a 45.4% / 51% joint venture under the name Shenyang Jinbei Passenger Vehicle Manufacturing. Since 2001, the company has been called Shenyang Brilliance Jinbei Auto Co.Ltd., after Brilliance Auto Group acquired from FAW 81% (since 2003 – 89.1%) of Shenyang Automobile Co. shares. Since 1991, the company has been manufacturing minibuses, and minivans since 2002 under a Toyota licence and atrademark of Jinbei. In December 2000, the Zhonghua sedan was presented, which was designed jointly by Brilliance and Ital Design. The SY 7200 version with a 2.0-liter 129 hp engine (top speed – 180-190 km/h) has been in production since December 2001, and the SY 7240 version with 2.4-liter 136 hp units (maximum speed of 185-195 km/h) – since 2003. In December 2004, the restyled Zunchi appeared with 2.0-liter 129 hp or 2.4-liter 131 hp engines, and since 2005 – with a 1.8-liter 170 hp unit. The 2005 Leipzig Motor Show saw ashorter Junjie M2 sedan with 1.8-liter or 2.0-liter engines, which is slated for production from October 2005.

Songliao company, founded in 1947, since 1981 has been producing microbuses and pick-ups, and, since the end of the 1980s – SUVs. In 2002, Songliao was taken over by Zhongshun (Polarsun) company, which changed its trademark to Zhongshun (Polarsun) in 2004. In July 2003, the production of new 7/9 /11-seater minivans – SLQ 6503A Century with 2.3-liter 123 hp or 2.35-liter 120 hp engines commenced. Presented at the 2003 Shanghai Motor Show, the 7-passenger SUV SLQ 6480A Century and a 5-passenger pick-up, the SLQ 1030 Century, will not be manufactured. Showed at the 2005 Shanghai Motor Show, the 7-passenger SUV with 2.35-liter 130 hp unit and 7-seater MPV with a 2.0-liter 129 hp power plant are supposed to be manufactured beginning from 2006.

Hebei Tianye Automobile (Group) Co., Ltd., between the end of the 1980s until 2001, manufactured an ATV estate car under the Tianye trademark. In 1991, the company established a40% / 60% joint venture with Brilliance Auto Group, under the name of Hebei Zhongxing Automobile Co., Ltd, which, since its inception, has been producing pick-ups known as Zhongxing. Between 2001-2004 the company Jiangxi Fuqi Automobile was owned by Hebei Zhongxing. In 2003, Ningbo Huaxing Group and Taiwan Unite Leading Co. companies purchased from Brilliance 60% of Hubei Zhongxing Automobile stock. In 2001, Zhongxing began to manufacture its first SUV, restyled in 2002, a 5/7-seater Gijian (Admiral Seal) in the following versions: BQ 6471 Y1A (2.2-liter 95 hp, 130 km/h), BQ 6471 Y2A (2.2-liter 103 hp, 140 km/h, optional: 2.2-liter 92 hp; 2.8-liter 78 hp diesel) or BQ 6472 SY2A with 4x4 drive (2.2-liter 103 hp; 2.4-liter 120 hp or 2.8-liter 78 hp diesel). In June 2003, production began on the original, 7-seater SUV: Chiye (Cruiser) in BQ 6472Y2C (2.2-liter 103 hp, optional: 2.2-liter 92 hp; 2.2-liter 95 hp and 2.8-liter 78 hp diesel) and BQ 6472 GC (2.35-liter 128 hp) Versions. For many years, Zhongxing has manufactured 5-seater pick-ups: the Laohu (Tiger) BQ 1020 Y2T / BQ 1021 Y1T / BQ 1021 Y2T (2.2-liter 92 hp; 2.2-liter 95 hp; 2.2-liter 103 hp or 2.8-liter 78 hp) with abody borrowed from the old Toyota Hilux. In 2002, 5-passenger Gijian (Admiral) pick-ups were offered in the following versions: BQ 1020 Y1A (2.2-liter 95 hp), BQ 1020 Y2A / BQ 1021 Y2A (2.2-liter 103 hp, optional: 2.2-liter 92 hp and 2.8-liter 78 hp diesel) and BQ 2020 Y2A1 4x4 (2.2-liter 103 hp), and 2-seater Gijian (Admiral) pick-ups: BQ 1020 DA (2.2-liter 92-95-103 hp or 2.8-liter 78 hp diesel). Established in 1916, AMO started the production of the AMO F15 trucks in 1924, in 1936 presentingthe luxurious ZIS 101 limousine, which went into series production ayear later. The company was called ZIS from 1933, and since 1956– ZIL. In 1996, acontrol block of shares in the indebted AMO ZIL was taken over by the mayoralty of Moscow. Acompletely new ZIL 4112 limousine is being prepared for 2005.

In 1977, ZIL presented the 115 limousine, which in the following years went into low series production as the 4104 model. Since 1986, this 6.33-meters-long, 7-seat, 4-door limousine has been functioning as the 41047 model, and is equipped with a 7.7-liter 315 hp power plant (maximum speed – 190 km/h). In 1997 a 58-cm shorter, 5-seat 41041 variant was added. The car is provided with an identical engine but due to a lower weight it develops a speed of 200 km/h. The vehicles are still offered although the latest were produced in 2000.

4-Door Sedan

In the years 1980-88 Zimmer produced 1,400 Golden Spirit and 170 Quicksilver coupes. In November 1998 production of the Golden Spirit model was relaunched, followed in 2000 by restyled Coupe and Convertible versions based on the Ford Mustang with a Ford 4.6-liter 200-309 hp V8 engine. In 2000 a 4-Door Sedan was introduced, later joined in 2001 by a 4-Door Convertible and in 2002 by an extended 4-Door L. These versions are based on the Lincoln Town Car with a 4.6-liter 200 hp V8 engine.
